What tuberous breasts are
Tuberous (or tubular) breasts are a developmental variation in which the breast base is narrow, the lower part of the breast is short or constricted, the fold sits high and the areola may be enlarged or appear to bulge forward. The breasts are often uneven in size and shape. It is a common variation rather than a health problem, but many people feel self-conscious about it. Correction aims to widen the base, release the constriction, lower the fold where needed and improve the areola.
Why the price varies
No two tuberous breasts are the same, and correction is built around what each side needs. The typical starting points are:

What your fee includes
Whichever plan is agreed, the fee typically covers:
- Surgeon: detailed assessment, planning and surgery by Mr Nassab.
- Anaesthetist: your consultant anaesthetist.
- Hospital and theatre: surgery at Deansgate Hospital, Manchester, with theatre time, nursing care and your stay.
- Implants: where used, sized individually and sometimes differently for each side.
- Garment and dressings: a support bra and dressings.
- Routine follow-up: wound checks and reviews during healing.

The consultation and planning
Planning takes longer than for a routine augmentation. Mr Nassab will measure the breast base width, fold position, areola size and skin quality on each side, discuss the shape you would like and explain what can realistically be improved. You will receive a written quote specific to the combination of procedures recommended. Occasionally a staged approach is suggested, with a second procedure to refine the result, and this would be discussed and quoted in advance.
Recovery
Recovery is similar to augmentation, and slightly longer when an uplift is added. Most people take one to two weeks off desk-based work, wear a support bra day and night for several weeks and avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for about six weeks. Scars fade gradually over twelve to eighteen months. A rapidly swelling breast or one side becoming much larger after surgery needs urgent contact with the surgical team, and chest pain or breathlessness means calling 999.
Who can have correction
Tuberous breast correction is for adults aged 18 and over whose breasts have finished developing. Good general health, not smoking and a stable weight all help healing. Correction can improve shape and symmetry considerably, but perfectly matching breasts are not a realistic aim, since natural breasts are rarely identical.
