Earlobe Repair in ManchesterTorn and stretched earlobe repair with Mr Reza Nassab in Manchester city centre

Medically reviewed: Last reviewed by Mr Reza Nassab, FRCS Plast —

Mr Reza Nassab repairs torn, split and stretched earlobes for patients in Manchester. Consultations take place at CLNQ in Deansgate Square, and because the repair is usually done under local anaesthetic, it may be carried out at CLNQ too, rather than at Deansgate Hospital, so most people are in and out within a couple of hours and back to normal the next day.

What earlobe repair involves

Earlobes can split or stretch after years of wearing heavy earrings, when an earring is pulled or caught, or after using gauges and tunnels. The repair removes the thin lining of the tear or stretched hole and stitches the lobe back together to restore its shape. Mr Nassab often uses a zig-zag or small flap closure to reduce the chance of a notch forming along the lower edge. The procedure takes around thirty minutes to an hour. More information is on the main earlobe repair page.

Your appointment at CLNQ, Deansgate Square

At your consultation in Manchester, Mr Nassab examines each lobe and asks how the damage happened, whether you have had any previous repairs, and whether you have a history of raised or keloid scars. He will talk through whether you would like to wear earrings again, because this can shape the way the repair is designed. The consultation costs £150 and is charged separately from the procedure. If Knutsford suits you better, consultations are also available at CLNQ there.

The day of your repair at CLNQ

  • Arrival: you check in at CLNQ, Deansgate Square, and the team confirms your details and consent.
  • Anaesthetic: Mr Nassab numbs the earlobe with small local anaesthetic injections; you stay awake and comfortable.
  • Repair: the edges of the tear are trimmed and the lobe is carefully stitched in layers.
  • Afterwards: a small dressing is applied and you receive written aftercare advice before going home.

As there is no general anaesthetic, you can usually eat normally beforehand and travel home independently.

Follow-up in Manchester

Your follow-up is arranged in Manchester. Non-dissolving stitches are usually removed after about seven to ten days, and a later review checks how the scar is maturing and whether the lobe is ready for a new piercing. If you notice anything unexpected between visits, such as redness spreading from the wound or a fever, contact the team the same day.

Preparing for the procedure

There is very little preparation needed for an earlobe repair, but a few simple steps help:

  • Remove earrings: take out all earrings from the affected ear before your appointment.
  • Medicines: tell the team about any blood-thinning medicines or supplements; do not stop prescribed medicine without medical advice.
  • Hair: wash your hair the day before, as you will need to keep the ear dry for a day or two afterwards.
  • Clothing: wear a button-up or loose top that will not catch on the dressing when you change.

Eating a light meal beforehand is fine, as no general anaesthetic is involved.

Coming from across Greater Manchester

Patients travel to the city centre from Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside, Rochdale and across the wider North West for earlobe repair. Because the procedure is short and done under local anaesthetic, it fits easily into a morning or afternoon, and many people return to work the following day.

Healing and re-piercing

The lobe is usually comfortable within a day or two. The scar looks pink at first and fades over twelve to eighteen months. Mr Nassab typically advises waiting at least six to twelve weeks before a new piercing, and placing it slightly to one side of the scar. Read the full earlobe repair recovery guide for a detailed timeline.

Fees for earlobe repair

Earlobe repair costs from £850 for one lobe or from £1,250 for both, including the procedure and routine follow-up. The £150 consultation is separate. See the earlobe repair cost guide for more on what affects the price.

Frequently Asked Questions
