Histology means sending the removed tissue to a laboratory, where a pathologist examines it under a microscope. It confirms what the mole was and whether it has been fully removed. Mr Nassab will discuss whether histology is recommended for your mole and whether any laboratory fee applies. Results are shared with you, and any unexpected finding would be explained with advice on next steps. Keeping a copy of the result is useful for your own records and for any future skin checks. Histology is not possible after some shave removals, which is one reason the technique is chosen carefully.
