Medically reviewed: Last reviewed by Mr Reza Nassab, FRCS Plast —

Mr Reza Nassab offers breast implant removal in Manchester, with consultations at CLNQ in Deansgate Square and surgery at Deansgate Hospital in the city centre. Patients come from across Greater Manchester and the North West, and follow-up appointments take place locally so aftercare stays close to home.

About breast implant removal

Breast implant removal, sometimes called explant surgery, takes out breast implants and, where appropriate, some or all of the scar capsule that forms around them. People choose removal for many reasons: a change in lifestyle or taste, capsular contracture, implant rupture, discomfort, or simply no longer wanting implants. The operation is performed under general anaesthetic, usually as a day case, and often uses the original incision. Some patients also benefit from a lift to reshape the breast once the implant has gone. Full details are on the main breast implant removal page.

Your consultation at CLNQ, Deansgate Square

Your first appointment is with Mr Nassab at CLNQ, Deansgate Square, Manchester. He will ask about your original surgery, any implant paperwork you have and what you would like to achieve. He examines your breasts, assesses the skin quality and how much natural breast tissue you have, and may arrange an ultrasound or MRI if rupture is suspected. You will talk through whether the capsule should be removed and whether an uplift would help. The consultation costs £150 and is charged separately from the surgical fee. Consultations are also available at CLNQ in Knutsford if that is more convenient.

Surgery at Deansgate Hospital

On the day of your operation you are admitted to Deansgate Hospital in Manchester city centre. You meet your consultant anaesthetist and Mr Nassab, who marks your chest and answers any last questions. The operation typically takes between one and two and a half hours, depending on the capsule surgery and whether a lift is performed. Most people go home later the same day with a support bra in place, wound dressings and clear written instructions.

Follow-up in Manchester

Aftercare is arranged locally, which is one of the main advantages of having surgery near home:

  • First week: a wound check with the nursing team.
  • Around two weeks: review of healing and removal of any non-dissolvable stitches.
  • Six weeks: a review with Mr Nassab to discuss the change in shape and return to full activity.
  • Longer term: a later review once the breasts have settled, usually a few months after surgery.

If you have a concern between appointments, the team can be contacted directly.

Travelling from across the North West

Patients travel to Manchester from Salford, Stockport, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Wigan and further afield in Lancashire and Merseyside. Plan to be driven home after surgery and to have an adult with you for the first night. If you live further away, discuss the journey with the team so that follow-up visits can be timed sensibly around your recovery.

Recovery at home

Most people need one to two weeks off work, longer after an uplift or a more extensive capsulectomy. Wear your support bra as advised, walk regularly, avoid heavy lifting and hold off on upper-body exercise for about six weeks. Read the full implant removal recovery guide for a detailed timeline and the warning signs to watch for.

Cost of implant removal in Manchester

Implant removal costs from £7,500 and implant removal with an uplift costs from £11,500. Your written quote covers the surgeon, anaesthetist, hospital and theatre fees, the support bra and routine follow-up. See the implant removal cost guide for more on what affects the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my operation take place?

Surgery takes place at Deansgate Hospital in Manchester city centre. Consultations are held at CLNQ, Deansgate Square, or CLNQ in Knutsford.

Can implants placed elsewhere be removed?

Yes. Many patients seeking removal had their original surgery with another surgeon, in the UK or abroad. Bring any implant cards or records you have.

Is an overnight stay needed in Manchester?

Most patients go home the same day. An overnight stay may be recommended after more extensive surgery, and this is agreed in advance.

How soon can surgery follow the consultation?

Mr Nassab advises a cooling-off period of at least two weeks between consultation and surgery so you have time to reflect. Many patients also choose a second consultation.

Is implant removal available for under-18s?

No. Cosmetic breast surgery, including elective implant removal, is offered to adults aged 18 and over.

What is worth bringing to a Manchester consultation?

Bring your implant card or operation notes if you have them, any recent scan reports, a list of your medicines and any questions you would like to ask. Photographs taken before your original surgery can also be helpful when discussing the likely shape after removal.
