Mr Nassab was an invited speaker at the Royal Society of Medicine masterclass in September 2023 in London. During this meeting, he shared his experience in non-surgical body contouring devices. The Royal Society of Medicine is one of the oldest medical institutions in the United Kingdom. It was a great privilege to be an invited member of the faculty and join esteemed colleagues from around the world including Dr Carlos Roxo from Brazil and Dr Alfredo Hoyos from Columbia. The talks covered a broad range of topics including weight loss surgery, massive weight loss surgery, abdominoplasty, arm lifts, breast lifts and other body contouring topics.
The presentation was based on his award winning research undertaken in 2015 which was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. In the gold journal paper, Mr Nassab reviewed the devices available for use in non-surgical body contouring. The most popular devices at that time included: Velashape, Ultrashape, Coolsculpting, Zerona, and Thermage. In the period of 8 years from this paper, there have been many advancements in technology and some of these devices have become obsolete or upgraded.
During the talk, he reviewed the latest technology and devices available in the body contouring field. These devices included:
- Coolsculpt
- Emerald
- Emsculpt Neo
- Evolve
- Vaser
The statistics from the United States Aesthetic Society reveals that the non-surgical body contouring market is becoming hugely popular with treatments equalling that of laser hair removal.
Mr Nassab shared his experiences with a number of these devices used in CLNQ. He showed the evidence behind some of these devices and scientific basis supporting their effectiveness.
He concluded that the area is growing very quickly and there are many devices coming to the market. As a plastic surgeon, we need to be aware of the latest technologies and identify those that will be effective for patients. He provided a framework for evaluating new devices for clinics and hopes this would help clinic owners decide which devices would be bested suited for their practice.
